Pham Thi Hoai

Phạm Thi Hoài (* 1960 in the province of Hải Dương, Vietnam ) is a Vietnamese writer and translator who lives in Berlin.

Life

Growing up in the north of Vietnam, Phạm Thi Hoài 1977 came to East Berlin to study at the Humboldt University, where she graduated in 1983 as an archivist. In the same year her first collection of short stories was published five days. Back in Vietnam, she lived in Hanoi, working in their trained profession and began to write. Your first novel Thien Su ( The crystal messenger ) they published in 1988, which was quickly translated into several languages. Since 2000 she has been living in Berlin. She is the founder of the Internet publication " Talawas ". Her latest blog is called " Pros & Cons " ( procontra.asia ). She has published numerous works by important German-speaking authors translated into Vietnamese: Franz Kafka, Bertolt Brecht, Thomas Bernhard and Friedrich Dürrenmatt.
