Phan District

Amphoe Phan ( Thai: อำเภอ พาน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Chiang Rai. The Chiang Rai province is located in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Phan is located in the south of the province, from the provincial capital of Chiang Rai is about 40 kilometers.

Neighbouring districts ( from the southwest clockwise): Amphoe Wiang Pa Pao, the, Mae Suai, Mae Lao, Mueang Chiang Rai, Pa Daet Province Chiang Rai, Amphoe Mae Chai of Phayao Province and Amphoe Wang Nuea of Lampang Province.

Economy

In the district there are numerous, very extensive fish farming institutions. Bred is almost exclusively of Oreochromis niloticus tilapia ( in Thai: ปลา นิล - "Pla Nin " ), which is even exported to Europe. For this fish also some products in the OTOP ("One Tambon One Product " ) are produced, such as Fish paste ( น้ำพริกเผา ปลา นิล ) or rice crackers ( ข้าวเกรียบ ปลา นิล )

Attractions

  • The Phra That Chom Wae ( พระ ธาตุ จอม แว่ ) on an ancient Lanna pilgrimage route, the route of the Nine Saints Chedis, all of which are in the province Chiag Rai. The route starts at Phra That Doi Chom Thong, Chiang Rai in Chiang Rai and ends again at Phra That Chom Sak.
  • National Parks: National Park Doi Luang ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ ดอย หลวง ) around the 1,694 meter high Doi Luang ( ยอด ดอย หลวง ). Here you will find amazing waterfalls, such as the Cham Pa Thong Waterfall ( น้ำตก จำปา ทอง ) or Pu Kaeng Waterfall ( น้ำตก ปู แกง ), as well as some walk-in caves, such as Tham Nang Phaya Pang ( ถ้ำ นางพญา ปาง ).

Education

In Amphoe Phan is the addition Campus Chiang Rai Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna.

Management

Amphoe Phan is divided into 15 communes ( tambon), which in turn in 229 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Mueang Phan ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เมือง พาน ) has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon), it consists of parts of the tambon Mueang Phan.

There are also 15 " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
