Phan Thong District

Amphoe Phan Thong ( Thai: อำเภอ พานทอง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Chonburi. The Chonburi province is located in the eastern region of central Thailand.

Geography

The adjacent counties are from clockwise from the north: the Bang Pakong and Amphoe Ban Pho (both in the province of Chachoengsao located ) and the Amphoe Phanat Nikhom, Ban Mueang Chonburi Bueng and in the province of Chonburi.

History

The rise of Amphoe Phan Thong coincided with the increasing tourism in the Gulf of Thailand. Lately, however, settle and operations of the electric industry and the chemical industry who want to escape the chronic traffic problems of Bangkok.

Management

The district is in eleven subdistricts ( tambon) divided, subdivided further into the 76 village communities ( Muban ).

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Phan Thong ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พานทอง ) consists of parts of the tambon Phan Thong,
  • Nong Tamlueng ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ตำลึง ) consists of the whole tambon Nong Tamlueng and parts of Nong Ka Kha Map and Pong.

In addition, there are eight " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
