Phanat Nikhom District

Amphoe Phanat Nikhom ( Thai: อำเภอ พนัสนิคม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the north of the province of Chonburi. The Chonburi province is located in the eastern region of central Thailand.

Geography

The neighboring Amphoe are from clockwise from the East: the Koh Chan, Bo Thong, Ban Bueng and Phan Thong in Chonburi province, as well as Amphoe Ban Pho and Plaeng Yao in the province of Chachoengsao.

History

The area has been inhabited for thousands of years, have as excavations in Nong Khok Phanom Di Nor and shown. Phanat Nikhom itself is an old settlement, which can be dated right back to the Khmer Empire. Archaeologists have found ruins of a fortress in the county. In the Rattanakosin period, King Nang Klao (Rama III. ) Founded in 1828, the city ( Mueang ) Phanat Nikhom. In 1904 it was made by King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ) to a district of the province of Chonburi.

Archeology

  • Nong Nor - archaeological place in the alluvial plain of the River Bang Pakong,
  • Khok Phanom Di - archaeological place about 14 kilometers north of Nong Nor.

Management

The circle is divided into 20 subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 185 villages ( Muban ).

Phanat Nikhom itself ( Thai: เทศบาล เมือง บ้านบึง ) has a city - state ( thesaban Mueang ) and consists of the whole tambon Phanat Nikhom.

There is still a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Mon Nang ( เทศบาล ตำบล หมอน นาง ), consists of the whole Tambon Mon Nang.
