Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union

The Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union ( PGEU ) to German association of pharmacists in the European Union ( ZAEU ), is the European trade association for the public pharmacist. It represents the Associations of Pharmacists 30 European countries, including EU Member States, candidate countries and EFTA countries. Overall, the pharmacy sector in the European Union employs about half a million people. Nearly 400,000 pharmacists across Europe are represented by ZAEU.

Development

1959 ZAEU was created parallel to the EU's founding as a platform for information and know -how exchange in life. Over the years, the scope of duties of the ZAEU has greatly expanded since it has adapted to the changing circumstances in the pharmacist profession and in the development of Europe.

Today, analyzed and influenced the ZAEU the activities of the EU institutions and other relevant decision-makers concerning the health, to ensure that the legal framework support the pharmacist on their behalf to the health of people. He maintains many links to other organizations that deal with health; especially with consumer protection organizations such as BEUC.

Structure

In the office of its permanent representation in Brussels ZAEU employs four employees who obtain important information, analyze and pass, create the legal opinions and the Commission in important decisions advise on the pharmacy sector. Three times a year shall meet the General Assembly, in the meeting, the delegations of the individual member states all the important decisions, for example on the ZAEU policy or the annual budget. After the General Assembly in June each year, the ZAEU organized a symposium, the pharmaceutical industry and various patient groups are present at the experts from the European institutions, from national authorities. The Bureau shall always times a month; the presidency rotates annually. Since the ZAEU operates in very different topics, it creates additional working groups on specific topics that support the Secretariat and the Board in their work.
