Pharmacognosy

The Pharmacognosy ( from Greek φάρμακον, pharmakon, remedy, poison, magic charms and γιγνώσκειν gignoskein: " recognize, learn to know " ) or drug therapy is the study of the biogenic - ie plant or animal - pharmaceutical drugs, medicinal products and toxins. It is a branch of Pharmaceutical Biology.

Tasks

The Pharmacognosy deals with the existing living material from drugs or substances derived therefrom.

The tasks of Pharmacognosy counts the drug analysis, drug discovery and cultivation of medicinal plants or cell cultures.
