Phase center

The term refers to the electronic phase center reference point of an antenna. From a receiving point from which electromagnetic radiation antenna of this point seems to be assumed.

Example

The phase center of an antenna plays measurement method through maturity determination a major role.

A global navigation satellite system measures the location with an accuracy of a few meters. The error is significantly greater than the wavelength, and antenna size, the exact location of the phase center is irrelevant. Contrast, can be determined for DGPS with a few millimeters accuracy the position, relative to the phase center. The position of the phase center of the antenna is dependent upon both the wavelength and angle of incidence. The current position of the phase center is moved relative to an antenna reference point ( ARP) of the indicated antenna.
