Phato District

Amphoe Phato ( Thai: อำเภอ พะโต๊ะ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the southern province of Chumphon. The Chumphon province is located in the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Phato is by following Amphoe limited (as seen from the east clockwise from ): Amphoe Lang Suan and Amphoe Lamae Chumphon Province, Amphoe Tha Chana and Chaiya the Surat Thani province and Amphoe Kapoe, Amphoe Mueang Ranong and Amphoe La -un Province Ranong.

In the southwest of the district of the game reserve Kuan Mae Yai Mon is one of the main attractions here is the Heo Lom Waterfall. The terrain is mostly mountainous, with some small rivers which are often used for rafting.

History

Originally Phatho was a district under the administration of the city ( Mueang ) Lang Suan, but was in 1932 to a district of the province of Chumphon. In 1938 Phatho was devalued again to a small district ( King Amphoe ). On June 19, 1991 Phatho got the full Amphoe status.

Symbols

The motto of the county is: Green hills, rafting, magnificent waterfalls, famous for its fruit. ( Thai: ภูเขา เขียว เที่ยว ล่อง แพ แล หมอก ปก น้ำตก งาม ลือนาม ผล ไม้ )

Management

Amphoe Lamae consists of four sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 43 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Phato is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district. It consists of parts of the tambon Phato.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Phato ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พะโต๊ะ ) consists of parts of the tambon Phato,
  • Pak Song ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ปาก ทรง ) consists of the whole Tambon Pak Song.

There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
