Phenablennius heyligeri is a species of blennies ( Blenniidae ) that is found in fresh and brackish water in Sumatra, the northern Borneo ( Sarawak ) and in Cambodia. The nature is systematically isolated and assigned a separate tribe.

Features

Phenablennius heyligeri is only 5.6 cm long. The species has a typical elongated shape blenny. All fin rays are unbranched. The pelvic fins have three articulated fin rays, the dorsal fin about 14 to 15 soft rays articulated and 12 or 13 spines, which are relatively flexible, as with all blennies. The swirl number is 32 to 34 ( 10 22-24). Phenablennius heyligeri has five infraorbital pores ( pores of the lateral line below the eyes), labial on each jaw and a single Postcleithrum, a bone in the shoulder girdle. Other blennies have two Postcleithra or one to three Postcleithrafragmente. Phenablennius heyligeri is oviparous. The eggs sink to the bottom and adhere to the substrate.
