Phetchabun ( in Thai เพชรบูรณ์, pronunciation: [ p ʰ ʰ étt͡ɕ áʔbu ː n]) is a city ( เทศบาล เมือง เพชรบูรณ์ ) in the Thai province of Phetchabun. It is the capital of the district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Phetchabun Phetchabun province and in the northern region of Thailand.
The city has 22 468 inhabitants Phetchabun. (2012 )
Etymology
The name is composed of เพชร ( Prophet ) "Diamond ", from Sanskrit vajra, the thunderbolt of God Indra, and บูรณ์ ( bun ) of Sanskrit / Pali Purana, "full".
Geography
Phetchabun is located about 350 kilometers northeast of Bangkok and can be reached with the capital via the expressway Thailand Route 21. The city is surrounded by lovely countryside, the land is farmed intensively. In the surrounding area there is a beautiful, covered with rainforest mountains.
The national park fact Mok ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ ตาด หมอก ) is located in this district.
The main water resource is the Maenam Pasak ( Pasak River ), which flows through the province in its entire length from north to south.
