Phil Carmen
Phil Carmen (actually Herbert Hofmann, born February 14, 1953 in Montreal, Canada ) is a Swiss musician and producer with Canadian roots.
Life
Carmen grew up in Frankfurt am Main and in Lucerne ( Switzerland ). In Lucerne, he went to the conservatory and then decided to first for an Accountant teaching. But in 1975 he embarked on a career in music. With bassist Mike Thompson (actually Marcel Galluzzi ), he formed the duo Carmen & Thompson, who played country music in particular. The Single Time Moves On abolished in 1980 number 31 of the Italian hit parade, and with the song Follow Me they took part in 1981 at the San Remo Festival.
After seven years of stage experience Phil Carmen 1982 founded the Picar Studios in Stein am Rhein ( Switzerland ). Here are two solo albums, but no attention was paid arisen. In 1985 he managed the LP Walkin 'the Dog a breakthrough. The single from the On My Way in LA was his greatest success in the summer of 1985 and climbed to number 18 in Germany and No. 9 in Switzerland. In addition, the number 1988 West was inclusive use in the television series Wild. The album Walkin 'the Dog reached number 3 in Switzerland.
In 1986 he released his album Wise Monkeys. While the LP # 1 on the Swiss charts occupied, the single from the Moonshine Still could advance to number 10 of the charts. In Germany, this album was a flop. His last successful album as a solo artist was City Walls from the year 1987. Hereby he reached number 10 in the Swiss charts.
In 1986 he founded the country band Clover Leaf. In 1989 he produced the album Nena wonder gescheh'n. In the period following either albums or compilations of Clover Leaf came on the market. Only in 1993 appeared a new studio album titled Skyline. Today he is making an increased commitment to animal welfare and dedicated this work, a song entitled God's Creation. In 1996 his last album with cover versions of his favorite musician Bob Dylan.
