Phil Hawksworth

Phil Hawksworth (c. 1915) was a New Zealand badminton player. Margaret Hawksworth, also a successful badminton player, was his wife.

Career

Phil Hawksworth is considered a pioneer of badminton in New Zealand. 1936, 1937 and 1938, he won all three possible titles at the national championships: in single, double as well as in the Mixed ( always together with his wife Margaret Hawksworth ). The following year, 1939, he again won the men's doubles and mixed in with his wife. After the championships were not held from 1940 to 1946, Hawksworth succeeded the same again in 1947 winning the title in mixed doubles with his wife. The recent successes of his career, he has not achieved then in 1950 in singles and mixed, but this time with his wife, but with the player M. Potts.
