Phil Hogan

Philip " Phil" Hogan (Irish Ó Pilib hÓgáin, born July 4, 1960 in Kilkenny) is an Irish Fine Gael politician.

Life

Hogan was after studying at University College Cork insurance broker and auctioneer and began his political career for Fine Gael in local politics and from 1982 to 2003 Member of the County Council of County Kilkenny ( Kilkenny County Council ). During this time he was also from 1985 to 1986 Chairman of the County Council.

He stood as a candidate in 1987, although unsuccessfully for a seat in the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ), but was then a member of the Senate ( Seanad Eireann ) and represented in this until 1989, the interest group industry and finance. In the general election, 1989, he eventually became MPs ( Teachta Dala ) first elected to the House of Commons, representing the constituency since Carlow - Kilkenny. He was also from 1989 to 1990 again Chairman of Kilkenny County Council. Within the Group of Fine Gael from 1989 to 1991, he was spokesman for diet, then for consumer protection and, most recently between 1993 and 1994 Regional Affairs and European development.

During this time he was also dated 20 December 1994 until his resignation on 9 February 1995 Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance with special responsibility for public expenditure and the Office of Public Works in the Prime Minister ( Taoiseach ) John Bruton led " Regenbogenkoaliton " by Fine Gael, Irish Labour Party and Democratic Left. In the local elections of 1999 he was last elected in the constituency Kilkenny for a member of the Kilkenny County Council.

On 9 March 2011 the new Prime Minister Enda Kenny appointed him as Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government in essence, the Irish government.
