Philinus of Cos

Philinos of Kos was a physician who lived in the 3rd century BC in ancient Greece.

Philinos was a pupil of Herophilus of Chalcedon and the founder of empirical medical school, where he broke some with the teachings of Herophilus. For the doctors of the empirical school was the case, the principle that they must have detailed knowledge of drugs and their effects. Philinos was therefore also a supporter of pharmacology.
