Philip G. Alston (* 20th century in Australia) is a professor at New York University School of Law and an expert on international law and human rights.

Alston graduated from the University of Melbourne and at the University of California, Berkeley. In the 1980s he taught at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and Harvard Law School. He then became a professor at the Australian National University. From 1996 to 2001 he was Professor of International Law at the European University Institute ( EUI ) in Florence.

In 2011 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Maastricht.
