Philip Caputo

Philip Caputo ( born June 10, 1941 in Westchester, Illinois) is an American author and journalist. He gained fame through his best-selling novel A Rumor of War, in which he describes his experiences as a soldier of the United States Marine Corps in the Vietnam War.

Philip Caputo landed in 1965 with the first American combat units in Da Nang, Vietnam. After 16 months of use, Caputo finished his service for the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He then worked as a journalist for the Chicago Tribune and later as a Middle East correspondent. 1977, Caputo his autobiographical memories A Rumor of War. He lives in Connecticut.
