Philip George Houthem Gell

Philip George Houthem Gell ( born October 20, 1914 in Dublin, † 3 May 2001, Cambridge ) was a British physician, pathologist and immunologist.

He was with Robert Royston Amos Coombs developers of Clinical classification of immune reactions.

Life

He was Chair of Experimental Pathology at the University of Birmingham from 1948 until 1960. Subsequently, he was until 1978 Professor of Immunopathology and from 1968 head of the department. In 1969 he became a Fellow of the Royal Society.
