Philip H. Hayes

Philip Harold Hayes ( born September 1, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan ) is a retired American politician. Between 1975 and 1977 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Philip Hayes attended Rensselaer Elementary School and thereafter until 1958, the Rensselaer High School in Indiana. Then he studied until 1967 at Indiana University, among others, Jura. After qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. In the years 1967 and 1868 he was deputy district attorney in Vanderburgh County.

Politically, Hayes joined the Democratic Party. Between 1971 and 1974 he was a member of the Senate of Indiana. In the congressional elections of 1974 he was in the eighth electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Roger H. Zion on January 3, 1975. This electoral success was also influenced by the Watergate scandal, which seriously harmed Zion party. Since he resigned in 1976 to run again, Hayes was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1977.

In 1976 Hayes competed unsuccessfully for his party's nomination for election to the U.S. Senate. His last public office he previously held in the years 2001 and 2002 as a prosecutor in Vanderburgh County. Today he lives in Evansville.
