Philip II, Count of Waldeck

Philip II of Waldeck -Eisenberg (* March 3, 1453; † October 26, 1524 on the rafter Castle ( Bielefeld) ) was Count of Waldeck -Eisenberg. His parents were Wolrad I of Waldeck and Barbara Wertheim (* 1422 ).

Originally Philip was determined as the younger son of a priest, but then left after the death of his brother Philip I of the same name in 1475 for dynastic reasons the clergy and ruled the county of Waldeck Waldeck as guardian of his minor nephew nor Henry VIII. Announced in 1486 he with his nephew the county: Philip II, Count of Waldeck -Eisenberg, Henry VIII received Waldeck- Wildungen.

1499 a very rich vein of gold was discovered in Eisenberg, and then reigned three years dispute between Waldeck and the Four Lords of mouth around the mining Eisenberg.

In the year 1505 Duke Wilhelm IV of Jülich -Berg Philip allowed to build as his viceroy in the offices Ravens mountain and Sparrenberg mines. At the first mining company to except him two ducal bailiffs and wealthy Bielefeld citizens, including the two mayors involved. Then there was a mining expert from Thuringia.
