Philip Rosenberg

Philip " Phil" Rosenberg ( born January 15, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York) is an American art director and production designer who won an Oscar in 1980 for Best Production Design.

Life

Rosenberg began his career as an art director and production designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1968 the film The Seagull ( The Seagull ) and worked until 2002 at the scenic features of nearly forty films.

In 1979 he was nominated along with Tony Walton, Edward Stewart and Robert Drumheller for the Academy Award for Best Production Design, and indeed for The Wiz - The Wizard of Oz ( 1978) by Sidney Lumet with Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Nipsey Russell in the lead roles.

At the Academy Awards in 1980 he won with Walton, Stewart and Gary J. Brink Academy Award for Best Production Design in All That Jazz (1979 ) by Bob Fosse, Roy Scheider, Jessica Lange and Leland Palmer. At the same time he was nominated for the production design in this film for a British Academy Film Award ( BAFTA Film Award ).
