Philip (son of Antigonus)

Philippos (Greek Φίλιππος; † later than 306 BC) was a Macedonian general in the time of Diadochenkriege.

Philip was the son of Antigonus Monophthalmos and Stratonike, his brother was Demetrios Poliorketes. He was named after his paternal grandfather, so it seems likely that he was the elder of the brothers. After Billows Philippos was born around 334 BC in Macedonia, Helmut Berve however, argues for a subsequent birth in Asian Kelainai, after the start of the Asian campaign of Alexander the Great, which he would have been younger than Demetrius.

Philippos was 310 BC mentioned as a commander of his father. The satrap of Phrygia Hellespontine, Phoinix had to attempt to free themselves from the suzerainty of Antigonos. But Philip could force into submission after a successful campaign him.

Philip's death date is not known, but he probably died later than the spring of 306 BC, since it is no longer mentioned in the collection of Antigonus to the king in the same year.
