Philipp Degen 2010

Philipp Degen ( * February 15, 1983 in Liestal ) is a Swiss football player with FC Basel, where his twin brother David Degen is under contract. Philipp Degen and his brother, a member of the Swiss national team and was in the squad for the 2006 World Cup.

Career

In the club

Philipp Degen began his professional career in Switzerland with FC Basel. There he completed 82 league games and scored four goals. For the season 2005/ 06 he joined a free transfer from FC Basel in Switzerland to Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga 1. In Dortmund, he was for three years under contract. For the season 2008/ 09 he moved to the Premier League for Liverpool, where he has also signed a contract for three years. Previously, he was adopted on 17 May 2008, along with Christian Wörns and Alexander Bade at Borussia Dortmund.

In 68 league games for Dortmund scored a goal sword - on the final day of the 2005/06 season against FC Bayern Munich a 3-2 connection.

With his twin brother and midfielder David Degen he played for the national team of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, when excreting Swiss in the second round with 0:3 after penalty shootout against Ukraine. At the 2008 European Championships in Austria and Switzerland, he was again in the squad of Switzerland, but came to no game used.
