Philipp Keel

Philipp Keel ( born 1968 in Zurich ) is a Swiss artist, author, filmmaker, and publisher.

Biographical

Philipp Keel was born as the son of the publisher Daniel Keel and the painter Anna Keel. Even in his childhood, he had a strong interest in the visual arts. As a teenager, he became interested in photography. After studying piano at the Berklee College of Music in Boston Keel worked in Zurich for several years in the advertising industry. He then studied at the University of Television and Film Munich in directing. Then he moved to Los Angeles. Here Keel established himself as an artist, filmmaker and author. He made ​​a documentary about the tribe of the Lakota Sioux Indians and wrote his book project All About Me, which became a bestseller. He experimented with different printing techniques and developed with other artists, the so-called Imbue print technique, which eventually applied in his photographic work. His work was shown in exhibitions worldwide.

In addition to his artistic work photo Philipp Keel also operates in the visual arts, writes screenplays and philosophical texts. In 2012 he succeeded his late father as publisher Diogenes Verlag.

Work and reception

Keel altered by certain techniques that which our eye perceives. By reduction, distortion or overvoltage he provides the viewer the question of what we actually see.
