Philipp Schoch

Philipp Schoch ( born October 12, 1979 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss snowboarder. He spent his youth together with his brother Simon Schoch in the Zurich Oberland, where his father ran a ski lift. Its current place of residence is in the dock fish Thal.

He won the gold medal in the parallel giant slalom, ahead of Sweden's Richard Rikardsson at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Four years later, at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, he was able to defend his gold medal and narrowly beat his brother Simon Schoch. In the 2007 World Cup in Arosa, he won in the same discipline as well as in the parallel slalom silver medal; these successes were rather surprising due to its strong back pain.

After he was able to get twice the Olympic gold medal in the parallel giant slalom, he missed qualifying for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010. Due to back problems, he was a late start to the season. At the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014, he started having pain in the parallel slalom and was eliminated after falling from. This Schoch ended his athletic career.
