Philippe Gache
Philippe Gache ( born May 31, 1962 in Avignon ) is a French race car driver and team owner.
Driving career in motorsports
Philippe Gache began in the mid -1980s with motorsport. Through the French Formula Ford Championship, where in 1985 he won the overall title of the 1.6 -liter class, he came into Formula 3 Twice, 1987 ( champion Jean Alesi and 1988 ( champion Érik Comas ) in 1986, he finished the French Formula 3 Championship as fifth overall.
Although Gache promotion to the International Formula 3000 Championship, the last single-seater racing series before the Formula 1 World Championship. In the three years of his Fall in - he drove in the series between 1989 and 1991 - he, however, only reached a position in the points. In 1991 he finished fifth in the championship round at the Circuit Bugatti, thus securing two championship points.
In 1992 he tried in the United States as a racer to gain a foothold and qualified for Dick Simon Racing for the 500-mile race at Indianapolis. In the race he lost in the round of 61 the rule over his Lola and crashed into the perimeter wall. The rotating vehicles collided with the car of Stan Fox. Both drivers were uninjured, but the start of the Indianapolis 500 Gache remained his only race in the Champ Car series.
After the end of Monopostozeit reinforced the Frenchman his involvement in touring car and sports car racing. As early as 1987 he had made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Welter Racing. Mid -1990s, he received a contract with ORECA and ran for two years the Dodge Viper. Best place was the sixth place overall in the 4- hour race at Nogaro 1996, together with Eric Hélary. Overall Gache celebrated in the two ORECA - five years class wins. At Le Mans he was 1987-2010 times at the start. Best place in the final standings was the 21st in 1996. 2001 he also secured the overall title in the Porsche Carrera Cup France
After the 2002 season, he retired as a driver of the racetrack and walked to the end of the decade, several times in the Dakar Rally at the start, where he met the 12th place achieved his best result in 2006. Since 2011 Gache moves back circuit races, among other things, he went to the International GT Open at the start.
Team owner and team manager
In 1997, Gache own team - Team SMG. The team is involved in addition to the Dakar Rally, at rallies and GT races.
