Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe

Philippe Lacoue -Labarthe ( born March 6, 1940 in Tours, † January 27, 2007 in Paris) was a French philosopher, literary critic and translator.

Influences and connections

Lacoue - Labarthes works were heavily influenced by Martin Heidegger, Jacques Derrida, Jacques Lacan, German Romanticism, Paul Celan, and Deconstruction. Into French, he translated texts of Heidegger, Celan, Friedrich Nietzsche, Friedrich Hölderlin and Walter Benjamin.

With Jean -Luc Nancy, a colleague from the Université Marc Bloch in Strasbourg, he wrote several books and articles.
