Philippe Manoury

Philippe Manoury ( born June 19, 1952 in Tulle ) is a French composer.

Life

Manoury was a piano pupil of Pierre Sancan and studied at the Conservatoire de Paris composition with Gérard Condé, Max German, Michél Philippot and Ivo Malec. From 1975 he studied computer-assisted composition with Pierre Barbaud.

From 1978, he taught courses and conferences on contemporary music at several universities in Brazil. In 1980, he joined the IRCAM, where he worked as a lecturer and for years cooperated in the development of MAX, the basic visual programming language for interactive live game at Miller Puckette. Since 2004 he has taught at the University of California San Diego.
