Philippic ( feminine, plural philippics, impassioned speech derived from Greek Φιλιππικά ), refers to a attack, fire or campaign speech. The term tirade goes back to Demosthenes, who called for resistance against King Philip II of Macedon. Other famous Philippics held Marcus Tullius Cicero against Marcus Antonius.
