Philippine Academy of the Spanish Language

The Academia Filipina de la Lengua Española ( German, Philippine Academy of the Spanish Language ) is the most important academy for the preservation of the Spanish language in the Philippines. Its head office is located in Makati City.

The Academy was founded on July 25, 1924.

1973 Spanish was abolished in the Philippines as an official language. The Academy remained intact.

Incumbent of the Academy are: the Philippine President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo, the Secretary Alberto Romulo and Cebuano Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal.

The Academy is a member of the Asociación de Lengua Española de la Academias.
