Philippus II

Marcus Julius Philippus Severus Caesar (* 237, † 249 in Rome), also known as Philip II, was the son of the Roman Emperor Philip the Arab and his wife Otacilia Severa.

Philip II was seven years old when his father became emperor 244. That same year, Philip II was elevated to Caesar, 247 the age of ten to Augustus ( nominally of equal co-ruler ). 247 and 248, he was consul.

249 was Philip the Arab in the decisive battle against Decius, who became his successor. In Rome, Philip II had then distribute money to the troops and the population to celebrate his government as sole ruler. However, he was killed in the fall of 249 of the Praetorian Guard.
