Philipsburg, Sint Maarten

Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch part of the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten / Saint- Martin, who is a country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. In 2006, the city counted 1,338 residents.

Founded in 1763 by the Scottish captain of the Dutch Navy John Philips became the port city soon became a major international trade hub. As a fine example of West Indian architecture is one erected in 1793 courthouse.
