Phillip Cocu ( born October 29, 1970 in Eindhoven ) is a former Dutch football player and current coach.

Playing career

Clubs

Phillip Cocu is a skilled midfielder and began his football career in 1988 with the Dutch first division club AZ Alkmaar. From 1990, he played for five years with Vitesse Arnhem before he moved to PSV Eindhoven in 1995. 1998, led him to the Camp Nou to FC Barcelona under Louis van Gaal. After the 2003/2004 season, he returned after failed contract extension with FC Barcelona to his old stamping ground to PSV Eindhoven, with whom he reached the semifinals of the Champions League in the season 2004/ 05. From 2007 to 2008 he played for Al- Jazira Club in the United Arab Emiraten'und ended after his career.

National

His debut for the Dutch national team was Phillip Cocu on 24 April 1996 in the 0-1 defeat against Germany. His 101 and last match he played in the World Cup knockout round in 2006 against Portugal.

Achievements

With Eindhoven he won in 1997 and 2005, the Dutch and the Spanish Cup with Barcelona in 1999. More triumphs are the Amstel Cup 1997 Eindhoven and the UEFA Supercup in 1998 with Barcelona.

Coaching career

From 2008 to 2012, Cocu was assistant coach of the Dutch Oranje under Bert van Marwijk. On February 17, 2010, he received his coaching diploma. Cocu signed in May 2013 as the successor to Dick Advocaat a four-year contract as head coach at PSV Eindhoven.

Private

Phillip Cocu has been married since May 2006 and has three children.
