Phillip Island

Phillip Iceland is an island in the Australian state of Victoria. It lies about 80 km south-east of Melbourne's CBD as the crow flies and is accessible via a 640 meter long concrete bridge. The island reaches its greatest height in the southwest in Woolamai Hill at Cape Woolamai, which rises steeply to 109 meters. Philipp Iceland is upstream of Western Port Bay. 4.7 km north-east of Iceland Philip French Iceland is located in the Western Port Bay.

Phillip Iceland belongs to the municipality of Bass Coast Shire, and consists essentially of three of the seven wards of the district, namely Churchill, McHaffie and Thompson, as well as a small part of the wards Anderson.

3.5 million people each year visit the island, most of which Phillip Iceland Nature Park consists of the natural landscapes and rich fauna.

The most famous attraction is the " Penguin Parade". Morning pull entire groups of little penguins together on the beach of their homes on the coast into the sea to catch fish there for themselves and their young. In the evening they return then back to their burrows on the rocky coast. The Penguin hiking times, many tourists find on the coast to observe this event.

On the island is the traditional racetrack Phillip Iceland Circuit, inter alia, on the annual Grand Prix of Australia for motorcycles in the Motorcycle World Championship as well as a round of the Superbike World Championship will be held.

Personalities

On the island ( in Melbourne -born ) brothers Chris, Liam Hemsworth and Luke grew up. All three are now working as an actor, her parents still live on the island.
