Phillips County (Colorado)
The Phillips County is an administrative unit ( county ) in the northeast of the U.S. state of Colorado. Administrative headquarters is the largest town in Orange County, Holyoke.
Geography
The County is bordered on the east by the state of Nebraska. In the counter- clockwise direction, the County is surrounded by the Sedgwick County to the north, Logan County to the northwest and west, the Yuma County and in the east (both Nebraska) Chase County and Perkins County.
History
The County has been released from the Logan County in 1889 out. It was named after RO Phillips, CEO of the Lincoln Land Company was.
Tourism
Numerous campsites and hunting opportunities as well as golf courses break the otherwise very Farming area. In particular, the cultivation of grain determines the rural image. The plateaus of northwestern Colorado offer opportunities for pheasant hunting.

According to the census of 2000, there were 4,480 people in the county. There were 1,781 households and 1,239 families. The population density was 3 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 93.04 percent White, 0.20 percent African American, 0.29 percent Native American, 0.40 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 4.71 percent from other races groups; 1.34 percent were descended from two or more races. 11.76 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1,781 households out of which 32.9 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 61.2 percent were married couples living together, 5.6 percent were single mothers. 30.4 percent were non-families. 27.5 percent of all households and 14.3 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.01.
Based on the county the population was spread from 26.9 percent population under 18 years, 6.3 percent between 18 and 24 years, 25.3 percent between 25 and 44 years, 22.2 percent between 45 and 64 years and 19.4 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 93.4 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.5 males.
The median income for a household was $ 32,177, and the median income for a family was $ 38,144. Males had a median income of $ 30,095, women $ 18,682. The per capita income was $ 16,394. 11.6 percent of the population and 8.8 percent of families are below the poverty line. This included 14.7 percent of the population under the age of 18 and 7.2 percent of the population aged 65 and over.
