Philomont, Virginia

Philomont is a small, unincorporated rural village in western Loudoun County, Virginia.

Philomont located in the heart of Virginia's " Hunt Country", about 12 kilometers north of Middleburg and 9 kilometers south of Purcellville. Philomont located at the foothills of the Catoctin Mountain and west of the village are the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Philomont was built in the 19th century by Quakers.

The area around Philomont has gone through a significant development in the last ten years. The village is located in one of the fastest growing counties in the USA. The rural atmosphere was until now largely intact.

The area is known for its horse farms and large farms, as well as the hilly landscape.

One of the basic activities of the village is the barbecue of the fire, which is held annually in May. This fundraising event offers real " pit- cooked" ( cooked in a pit of bricks ) to beef, which is very delicate. With all the salads, beans, fried potatoes and wonderful desserts you get a culinary masterpiece.

Philomont may have a communications center, the volunteer fire department Philomont and the Philomont Store, as well as some " Bed & Breakfast " accommodation.
