Phineas Bruce

Phineas Bruce ( born June 7, 1762, Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, † October 4, 1809 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts ) was an American politician. Between 1803 and 1805 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Phineas Bruce studied until 1786 at Yale College. After a subsequent law degree in 1790 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession in Machias Maine in the former district of the state of Massachusetts. At the same time he embarked on a political career. He became a member of the late 1790s, founded by Alexander Hamilton Federalist Party. Between 1791 and 1798, and again in 1800 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Massachusetts.

In the congressional elections of 1802 Bruce was in the then newly established 17th electoral district of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. However, it was health reasons unable, from his position between 4 March 1803 and the March 3, 1805 actually exercise. He died on 4 October 1809 in Uxbridge.
