Phineas Quimby

Phineas Parkhurst Quimby ( born February 16, 1802 in Lebanon, New Hampshire; † January 16, 1866 in Belfast, Maine) was an American medical practitioner. Quimby regarded as the intellectual father of the New Thought movement.

He was referring to the Spirit of God as a healing -spirit, which he took as everything animating principle of harmony and kindness. Evil and disease in human life are consequences of negative thinking. Only " real " affirmative thinking God could heal body and soul. This Quimby took key beliefs of today's esoteric and the slogan " Positive Thinking " already anticipated.
