Phipun District

Amphoe Phipun ( Thai: อำเภอ พิปูน ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the north of the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. The Nakhon Si Thammarat province is located in the southern region of Thailand, about 780 km south of Bangkok on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula to the Gulf of Thailand.

Geography

Neighbouring districts ( from northeast clockwise): Amphoe the Nopphitam, Phrom Khiri, Lan Saka and Chawang in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Amphoe Wiang Sa and Ban Na San in the province of Surat Thani.

History

Amphoe Phipun was born on September 1, 1972 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established, qindem the two tambon Phipun and Kathun were separated from Amphoe Chawang. On September 8, 1976 Phipun was promoted to Amphoe.

Management

Amphoe Phipun is divided into five communities ( tambon), which in turn in 43 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Phipun is also the name of a small town ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พิปูน ) ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of parts of the tambon Phipun. There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
