Phoebe (mythology)

Phoebe (Greek Φοίβη, the Vibrant, in older transcription Phoebe ) is a Titan in Greek mythology.

She is the daughter of Uranus and Gaia, wife of Titans Coeus and from this mother of Asteria and Leto, and thus the grandmother of Apollo, Artemis and Hecate.

According to Aeschylus, she was by Gaia and Themis Owner of the Oracle of Delphi, which she passed on to Apollo on the occasion of his birthday.
