Phoenix Roadrunners (IHL)

The Phoenix Roadrunners were an American ice hockey franchise in the International Hockey League from Phoenix, Arizona. Their home stadium was the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

History

The Phoenix Roadrunners put the 1989 game operation of the Denver Rangers in the International Hockey League continued. In their first season in 1989/90, the Roadrunners with 65 points reached fifth place in the West Division in the IHL and thus missed the play-offs. This could be achieved in the following season. The club finally dropped out in the second round. After the Roadrunners could not qualify for the finals in the next three years, this was achieved again until 1994/95. In 1997, the club was disbanded.
