Phon Phisai District

Amphoe Phon Phisai ( Thai: อำเภอ โพนพิสัย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Nong Khai. The Nong Khai province is located in the north of the northeast region of Thailand, the Isaan.

Geography

The Nong Khai province is located about 615 kilometers northeast of Bangkok along the Mekong River, which is here the border to Laos.

Amphoe Phon Phisai borders the following counties ( from east clockwise ) to the Amphoe Rattanawapi and Fao Rai in Nong Khai province, to the Amphoe Ban Dung, Sang Khom and Phen Udon Thani province, as well as Amphoe Mueang Nong Khai, in turn, in Nong Khai. To the north on the other bank of the Mekong River are the Vientiane Prefecture and the Province Bolikhamsai of Laos.

History

Phon Phisai was originally part of Mueang Phon Phaeng, which now belongs to Rattanawapi. 1906 was raised to the Amphoe.

Management

Amphoe Phon Phisai is in eleven communities ( tambon) divided, which in turn in 151 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Phon Phisai ( Thai เทศบาล ตำบล โพนพิสัย ), consisting of parts of the Tambon Chumphon.
  • Sang Nang Khao ( Thai เทศบาล ตำบล สร้าง นาง ขาว ), consisting of the whole tambon Khao Nang Sang.

In addition, there are ten " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.

Note: The missing numbers refer to the tambon which now belong to Fao Rai and Rattanawapi.
