Phop Phra District

Amphoe Phra Phop ( Thai อำเภอ พบพระ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in Tak Province in northern Thailand.

Geography

The county Phop Phra is located in western Tak province, bordering the province of Uthai Thani and Myanmar.

Amphoe Phra Phop is located in the west of Tak Province and is bordered from the north clockwise as seen from the Amphoe Mae Sot, Tak and Wang Chao Mueang in Tak province, at Amphoe Ban Rai province Uthai Thani, Amphoe Umphang in Tak Province and to the west by Kayin State in Burma.

An important river in the district is Maenam moei ( moei River ).

History

The area of Phop Phra was originally the Tambon Chong Khaep in Amphoe Mae Sot. Due to the size of Amphoe and because of the communist insurgents in the area, the government established an independent administration. On April 1, 1977, the Tambon Phra Phop, Chong Khaep and Khiri were formed Council, which were combined to form a small district ( King Amphoe ). On March 3, 1987 this small district was upgraded to a Amphoe.

Attractions

  • National Park Namtok Pha Charoen ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก พา เจริญ ) - 855 km ² national park with the 100 -step Pawai Waterfall ( น้ำตก ป่า หวาย ) and the 97 -step phase - Charoen Waterfall ( น้ำตก พา เจริญ ), which is also the name provided for the park.

Management

Amphoe Phra Phop consists of 5 sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 52 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Phop Phra ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล พบพระ ) is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of parts of the tambon Phra Phop.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
