Phosphopantothenate—cysteine ligase
- OMIM: 609853
- UniProt: Q9HAB8
Phosphopantothenat -cysteine ligase ( also Phosphopantothenat cysteine synthase short PPC synthase gene: PPCS ) is the enzyme that catalyzes the attachment of Phosphopantothenat cysteine . This is the second reaction step in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A, which occurs in most organisms.
Catalysed reaction equilibrium
ATP AMP PPi
(R )-4'- Phosphopantothenat is condensed on L- cysteine under ATP consumption. The bacterial enzyme works more effectively with CTP.
