Photopsia

Under photopsia ( Greek) refers to the perception of light phenomena such as lightning, sparks or flickering without the appropriate correlate in the outside world. Trigger these perceptions may be, for example, retinal detachment or vitreous detachment. Photopsia may also occur in connection with migraines or epileptic seizures involving the occipital or temporal lobe. An almost classical form of photopsia is the " star watch ", for example, in a blow to the eye ( Contusion ) or a blow to the skull ( craniocerebral trauma).
