History

The district was founded in 1896 as part of the Monthon Nakhon Si Thammarat. The following year he (present-day Amphoe Ban Na San ) was downgraded along with neighboring district de I- Pan to a Tambon under the administration of Amphoe Lamphun. As ( พระยา สุขุม นัย วินิจ, also: Pan Sukhum - ปั้น สุขุม, later Chao Phraya Yommarat - เจ้าพระยา ยมราช ) in the year 1899, the Monthon administrator Phraya Sukhumnaiwinit visited the district, he noticed that Amphoe Lamphun was too large to be effectively managed to become. So he started again the district Phrasaeng, consisting of the two tambon Phrasaeng and I- Pan. 1906 Phrasaeng was the Mueang Chaiya assumed, the present province of Surat Thani.

On August 1, 1938 Phrasaeng was downgraded to a sub-district ( King Amphoe ). Since the administration in Ban Sai Khueng ( บ้าน ไทร ขึง ) was difficult to reach for the population, it was moved in 1940 to Ban Yan Din Daeng ( บ้าน ย่าน ดินแดง ). In 1958 Phrasaeng got again the full Amphoe status.

Etymology

The name of the district comes from an event that occurred at its inception. The government sent an official named Phrasaeng Phiram ( พระแสง ภิรมย์ ), to oversee the construction of the administration building. When the pit was excavated for the foundation, they found a sword that has been recognized as a royal sword because of its peculiar shape. It was called Phrasaeng Dab ( พระ แสงดาบ, such as: "the sword Phrasaeng " ) and exhibited it in the administration building. The district was also called by the official. Since this sword is but disappeared today, one is not sure whether it might here have delt gahan not just a legend.

Management

Amphoe Phrasaeng is divided into seven communities ( tambon), which in turn in 73 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Bang Sawan consists of parts of the tambon Bang Sawan,

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
