Maki frogs ( Phyllomedusa ) are a genus of tree frogs in the broader sense ( Hylidae ) and occur with 32 species found in the rainforests of South America.

Description

Maki frogs may face fingers and toes. This allows the excellent climbers include thinner parts of plants and climb it. Your body shape is unusual edged for anurans. The smaller species are about 5-7 inches tall, females of Riesenmakifrosches ( Phyllomedusa bicolor) reach a head -body length of up to 12 cm.

Way of life

Spend the day at the animals warm, dry places. To protect against dehydration they cover their skin with a waxy layer. At night, they go in search of food for spiders, insects etc.. Maki frogs move away slowly climbing. Only when a prey is within reach, they snap at lightning speed. In the rainy season they are looking at close to water. During mating, the eggs will be applied to the leaves, which are rolled up for protection against enemies and dryness around the nest. The hatching tadpoles drop into the water below it, where they develop into frogs.
