Piano Concerto No. 2 (Liszt)

The Piano Concerto No. 2 in A major by Franz Liszt is a work for piano and orchestra.

Formation

Liszt wrote the work in 1830 and 1839. 1849, 1853, 1857 and 1861, he wrote it to each again. The piece is dedicated to Hans von Bronsart, it was premiered on January 7, 1857 in Weimar under the direction of the composer at the piano and with Bronsart. The original title of the piece symphonique Concert.

The piano is for solo piano, three flutes (3rd piccolo ), two oboes, two clarinets written (in A ), two bassoons, two horns, two trumpets, three trombones, cymbals, timpani and strings. The average game lasts about 22 minutes.

Liszt later wrote a version of the concerto for two pianos.
