The Piano Concerto No. 1 in F major, KV 37 is the earliest piano and orchestra by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. After deviating count, in which only the pure and entirely derived from Mozart 's piano concertos are counted, this concert is not listed.

Formation

The first piano concerto Mozart heard, as well as the following three concerts, the so-called Pasticciokonzerten. The name referred pastiche works whose music actually comes from other composers. Mozart has edited the music of lesser known composers of various orchestral and solo piano here. The Piano Concerto No. 1 KV 37 is based on the composer's sonata movements Honauer, Hermann Friedrich Raupach and Johann Schobert. However, the basis of the middle movement could not be elicited until the present day. The work was probably written in 1767, that in childhood the 1756 born composer. This explains the extremely simple implementation of the implementation for solo piano and orchestra and the practice piece - character of the work.

About the Music

The short work is of frühklassischem character. The sonata -allegro form still in development is at a regular application here. The opening Allegro presents two hilarious topics in F major. The solo piano begins his solo exposure directly to the first topic in a simple sentence. The second theme appears slightly altered and partially moved to the minor. A short middle section, which is not yet be described as proper implementation processed a new theme and runs quickly to the recapitulation. A cadenza is missing this first work yet.

The following Andante opens with a contemplative minuet theme in the strings to be equally serious orchestral accompaniment. The solo piano takes up this idea immediately and continues it. The following part of the two piece set brings a new dynamic to the musical events. From here dominates the previously indicated Baroque metric on a Minuet.

The final Allegro is a small Rondo dar. It begins with a fast chorus theme of Strings, which has a quieter postscript. The solo piano takes this immediately, even here in a very simple way held reset. A couplet brings a new thought, which is, however, leaning characteristic of the chorus. Shortly before the end of the sentence surprised with a small solo cadenza.

Status

Before Mozart in 1773 with the 5th Piano Concerto, K. 175, and his first full valid Piano Concerto wrote, created a total of seven exercise stations and Pasticciokonzerte. The first four piano concertos (KV 37, KV 39, KV 40 and KV 41) arose prior to 1764 according to simple sonata movements of little-known composers. Three more concerts KV 107 had then more demanding sonatas by Johann Christian Bach as a model. These three works were, in contrast to the earliest Pasticciokonzerten, not counting the old Mozart Edition, which distinguishes 27 piano concertos, recorded. It was not until about six years after the composition of these early works conceived Mozart then his first piano concerto. Here Mozart achieved then the first valid form of modern piano concerto, which is not yet available in the Piano Concerto No. 1.
