Piccolo trumpet

The piccolo trumpet is a brass instrument and refers to a valve trumpet with higher mood and slender bell - shape than the usual ( 'normal' ) C- and B- tuned trumpets. They are available in moods F, G, high B / A and H / C. In the high cues it is usually equipped with an additional fourth quart valve to be able to play with it also deeper tones. Some of the fourth valve is also performed in the pipe during the 3rd valve, so that the valves are only play in combination. Modern Piccolo trumpets are mostly equipped with trigger devices to the often poor intonation do not have to completely offset by the " approach " ( resulting from unfavorable scale displacement of nature sounds) of the instrument.

The common assumption that you can play with the piccolo trumpet "automatically" higher notes, is only partly true. Indeed, it is often easier, on the piccolo trumpet to the safe range, which can also be controlled on a large trumpet. However, the piccolo trumpet does not automatically guarantee a greater range, but at best less effort and more accuracy. The instrument sounds, right and voiced better than a normal Bb trumpet in this pitch at high tones. The range starts with the one-lined d ( max. of ) and like the great trumpet the limits depend up on the individual skill of the blower.
