Pickering (North Yorkshire)

Pickering is a small town in the Ryedale District of the English county of North Yorkshire with 6,846 inhabitants.

Traffic

Pickering is located on the highways A169 ( Malton Whitby ) and A170 ( Thirsk - Scarborough ). There are bus connections to York Malton and Whitby and Thirsk. In addition, Pickering has a city bus.

The nearest train station is in regular service Malton, about 12 km south of Pickering. The train station of Pickering is the starting point of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, a leading during the summer months to Whitby railway museum. Plans reactivation of the branch line from Malton after Pickering, whereby a continuous rail link from York to Whitby would be produced were due to the financial resources not existing shelved.
